The Board of Trustees of Winneshiek Medical Center has endorsed the concept of a community solar panel project that would be shared by a number of area organizations.
The proposal--which has been advanced by Andy Johnson from the Winneshiek Energy District--does not require any financial commitment at this point.
But hospital board members have endorsed Johnson's proposal to send a letter to Alliant Energy asking it to cooperate with plans for a community solar panel project. The Iowa Utility Board is currently taking comments on such projects.
Winneshiek Medical Center joins Winneshiek County in expressing support of the concept. The Decorah School Board has voted against the project on the advice of its attorney, while the Decorah City Council will discuss the proposal in a committee meeting June 15th.
