Decorah Police were busy during the Memorial Day Special Traffic Enforcement Program

The Decorah Police Department says ten of its officer participated in the recent Memorial Day Special Traffic Enforcement Program.

They made two arrests for drunk driving, issued six speeding citations, investigated eight property damage traffic accidents and two person injury accidents.  They also issued three citations for open containers and five citations for other traffic offenses.  Approximately 60 other traffic stops were made.

The Memorial Day weekend STEP had a modest impact on seat belt usage, which was 90 percent before the enforcement wave and 91 percent afterward.
