May was wet, wet, wet in Decorah

Decorah weather statistician Richard Bernatz says May was a wet month in Decorah.

A total of nearly six inches of precipitation--5.91 inches--fell in Decorah in May, which was 1.74 inches more than average.  1.26 inches of rain fell May 26th, with 15 out of 31 days having some precipitation.

Bernatz says compared with May 2015, 16 Mays were wetter and 103 Mays were drier in the past 120 years (data missing for 1921).

While temperatures in Decorah ranged from 32 degrees on May 1st to 83 degrees on May 3rd and 4th, on average temperatures were warmer than normal.  Bernatz says the daily average temperature was 61.4 degrees--2.6 degrees warmer than average.
