Decorah Middle School student dies

A 7th grader who attended classes at Decorah Middle School has died at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.

The Decorah School District has notified parents that counselors will be available from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. both Wednesday and Thursday if their child would like to come to Decorah Middle School to find support.

The letter also noted, "We recommend that you continue to listen to your child, be honest (in answering) their questions and reach out when you need help."

Further, it recommended re-reading a letter that was mailed home last week with advice on support resources.
