Decorah Student Daiton Tietz and Calmar student Megan Bushman have each been awarded a $1,500 scholarship from "America's Farmers Grow Ag Leaders," a program sponsored by the Monsanto Fund.

Tietz has graduated from Decorah High School and plans to study animal science at Iowa State University in the fall.  "By planning, organizing and assisting with multiple events, she's not only been an asset to our chapter but to our community as well," says Decorah High School FFA advisor Joni Bruvold of Tietz.

Bushman is pursuing a dietetics degree at the University of Iowa. "Living and growing up on a dairy farm has helped me realize the importance of dairy products and a balanced diet. I am excited to pursue a career that will promote agriculture and help people improve their quality of life," said Bushman.

"Grow Ag Leaders" scholarships are available to high school seniors and college students pursuing degrees in ag-related fields. To be considered, each applicant is required to receive endorsements from at least three local farmers.
