The 2015 summer reading program at Decorah Public Library will start June 3rd.
This year's theme is "Every Hero Has a Story." For the first time the program will run all summer long (through August 28th) and will include adults, too. There will be programs, reading activities, and incentives for all ages.
This year, all participants need to pre-register at the library (at the front desk or in the children's area). Upon registering, participants will receive a Decorah Public Library drawstring bag with a schedule of events for each age group.
Reading and activity incentives will include various weekly prizes (for kids), Chamber Dollars (for kids and adults) and two grand prize drawings at the end of the summer (for kids). Grand prizes include a hot air balloon ride through Drift Away Adventure Tours and an airplane adventure with David Bakken.
Decorah Public Library and Decorah Parks & Recreation will jointly kick off their summer programming at Phelps Family Fun Night, scheduled for 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 3rd at Phelps Park (rain location is the covered parking area underneath the library).
Beginning June 1, calendars and program details may be found on the library website at www.decorah.lib.ia.us
People of all ages can enjoy a summer of fun and reading. Events are free and open to the public. Call 563-382-3717 for more information.
