Decorah's Addie Hansen receives nursing pin from Luther

Decorah resident Addie Hansen has been awarded a Nursing Pin from Luther College for completing the nursing program at the school.  She is a 2011 graduate of Decorah High School and is  the daughter of Thomas and Jeanett Hansen of Decorah.

Upon completion of the nursing program, each student is eligible to wear the Luther College nursing pin, which was designed by the first graduating class of 1978. The pin reflects the philosophy of Luther College and the nursing department throughout the design.  The pin's design includes the cross of Christ standing on the rock of faith, the Luther motto "Soli Deo Gloria" ("to God alone the glory"), the design of a ruby with an encrusted letter "L"- identical to that of the Luther College ring, and the lamp of light encrusted in gold- a symbol of the nursing profession.
