Sheriff's Department warns of phony U.S. Census calls

The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Department says it has been notified that some county residents are receiving phone calls from someone claiming to be working with the Census Bureau and in affiliation with the Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office.

The Sheriff's office says, "We have no affiliation with the Census Bureau and are not working with them in any way. We want to take this opportunity to remind citizens NOT to give out any personal information over the phone."
