Decorah resident Nicholas Vande Krol, a first-year student at Luther College, has been awarded the school's 2015 Timothy and Sandra Peter Leadership Award.

Vande Krol, the son of Scott and Kris Vande Krol of Decorah, is a member of Norsemen, the first year men's choral ensemble directed by Luther assistant professor of music Andrew Last.  After receiving the award he said "I would not have been blessed with this opportunity if it were not for the inspiration and guidance I received from Dr. Andrew Last."

The Timothy and Sandra Peter Music Leadership Award was established in 2012 by alumni, parents and friends of Luther College in celebration of the dedicated teaching and choral conducting careers of Tim and Sandra Peter.  The award includes a scholarship.

Vande Krol, a 2014 graduate of Decorah High School, is majoring in psychology at Luther.
