The U.S. Geological Survey and the Iowa Geological Survey offices have just scheduled a community presentation about the Decorah Crater that will take place June 2nd.

In the spring of 2013 scientists announced that airborne surveys of the Decorah area showed evidence the town is built on the site of a 470-million-year-old crater formed by the impact of a meteor.

At 7:00 p.m. on Junr 2nd, staff members of both agencies will speak in room 206 of Valders Hall at Luther College on "Results of Geophysical Studies in the Decorah Region, including the Decorah Impact Structure."

Further details of the presentation will be available at a later date.
