Decorah woman sent to Waterloo after court hearing

Decorah resident Christina Gray is serving five years probation after receiving two consecutive ten year prison sentences that were suspended.

In 2012 Gray pleaded guilty to first degree theft, first degree fraudulent practice and commission of unlawful activity for borrowing $97,200 from Linda Henning of Decorah and not paying it back, as well as for borrowing $10,200 from Jane Bullerman of Decorah and not paying it back.  Gray allegedly told the two women she had cancer and needed the money for medical expenses.

Now Circuit Court Judge John Bauercamper has issued a ruling in a court hearing into whether Gray had violated the terms of her probation and ought to be jailed.  Bauercamper on April 28th ruled that Gray could remain on probation, but ordered her to live at the "Women's Center for Change" in Waterloo until she received the maximum benefit from treatment there.

Charges were filed in December of 2013 that Gray had violated probation.  While Judge Bauercamper did not rule in favor of that charge, he ordered Gray to continue repaying the $107,400 she took from the two women.
