The "Second Biggest Winneshiek County Cleanup" is being declared a success

The Winneshiek County Recycling Department is calling its event, "The 2nd Largest Clean-Up Event Ever in Winneshiek County," a big success.

The April 25th collection of household hazardous wastes, appliances and electronics brought out several hundred people and collected many tons of recyclables.

The event was called the 2nd largest because there was little chance of it being larger than the one held last year.  That event had a line of cars nearly a mile long.  County crews working it gave up trying to count cars at the 700 mark and that was with three hours yet to go.

The Winneshiek County Recycling Department says it will begin planning for the "3rd Largest Clean-Up Event Ever in Winneshiek County" sometime in the near future.
