Members of the Decorah Street Committee had been discussing a 2017 project to repave a portion of Locust Road in Decorah.
But Monday night Decorah Street Committee Chair Gary Rustad announced he will call on others to support delaying the road project until May of 2018.
Rustad says the delay will give the city time to pay off the bonds it has issued for other road projects, including Short Street. He says the delay would also allow the city to tackly the repaving of Locust Road as "substantially one project," answering comments by some Street Committee members they would prefer not to stretch out the project over several years.
Rustad says "minor projects" using road funds could be done in 2016 and 2017 while the city waits to tackle Locust Road.
