NICC offering classes in QuickBooks

A series of classes in using QuickBooks will be offered at NICC Calmar this spring. 

The four classes are partially funded by a $35,500 grant through Winneshiek County Development, Inc. from the United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development.
 
The classes can be attended individually or as a series, depending on the needs of the participant.  All classes meet from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. either Wednesday or Tuesday at the Wilder Business Center on the NICC Calmar campus.

The first session, "QuickBooks: Setup and Basic Use" (#38044), will be held Wednesday, May 20th.  Students will learn how to use the software to set up a company and its accounting system; navigate financial statements, set up and organize the chart of accounts; generate and read reports; and use basic features of QuickBooks, such as writing checks, making deposits and reconciling bank accounts.

The second session, "QuickBooks: Vendors, Purchase Invoices and Payments" (#38046), will be held Wednesday, May 27th. Students will learn how to add and edit vendors, enter bills, write checks, pay bills and set up and pay sales taxes.

The third sesiion, "QuickBooks: Customers, Sales Invoices and Receipts" (#38048), will be held on Wednesday, June 3rd.  Students will learn how to add and edit customers, record sales through invoices, sales receipts or statement charges, create statements, receive payments and enter deposits.

The final session, "QuickBooks: Payroll" (# 38072), will be held Tuesday, June 9th.  Students will review the set-up process of the QuickBooks payroll to customize a company's payroll situation, including how employees are paid and various benefit plans a company may offer. The session will also review how to create and edit employees in a system, prepare payroll, record and pay payroll taxes/liabilities and how to report the information to various government agencies.
