Twelve Decorah and North Winneshiek students have been honored for their award-winning stories in the annual Old Creamery Theatre Writing Contest.
Decorah Middle School students Emma and Morgan Brauer were honored for their story, "A Journey to the Ocean." John Cline student Amelia Wadsworth was honored for her story, "Bunny Learns a Lesson." Both stories were performed by the Old Creamery Theatre as part of this year's school tour.
Second place winners include Decorah sixth grader Leila Johnson for "Protecting the Pandas," Tate Schissel and Dawit Vasquez-Suomala for "Octo-urchin and the Oily Idea" and Kaia Neal and Sofie Grouws for "Intergalactic Respect" and "The Brauers."
Third place winners include North Winneshiek fifth grader Kenneth Simmons for "A Day With Martin Luther King, Jr.", Decorah fifth graders Ruby Sullivan and Robyn Dayton for "Trouble at Clearview Park" and Decorah sixth grader Kendra Bigler for "The Littlest Teacup."
