Beginning Friday, Winneshiek County Celebration of Life's "Fuel for the Fight" will cover men as well.
The program, which began in August of 2013, has given 65 gasoline grants to help cancer patients pay for the cost of their travels. Gasoline grants are
awarded to area individuals who are actively pursuing treatment for any form of cancer. Nominated individuals can only receive one grant per calendar year.
"Through the generosity of of supporters we are now able to give $200 gasoline grants to any adult individual, male or female, who is in active treatment for cancer," said Celebration of Life board president Margaret Walter. The nominee must be age of 18 or older, in active treatment for cancer, and either a resident of Winneshiek County or someone whose family doctor works in Winneshiek County.
Nomination forms are available preprinted at Margaret's Clothing store, Winneshiek Medical Center, GundersenDecorah Clinic or online at www.winneshiekcol.com. Completed applications need to be mailed to PO BOX 314, Decorah, Iowa 52101 or dropped off at Margaret's Clothing store in Decorah.
