New Pulpit Rock Campground manager is on the job

For just the second time in its history, the Pulpit Rock Campground in Decorah has a new manager.  Doug Schroeder began work on Tuesday, replacing Campground Superintendent Sue Macal.

Schroeder had been working for Floyd County's County Conservation Board as its director, but had been living in Decorah.  His new job saves him the commute and reunites him with his daughter and his wife, Winneshiek County Conservation Director Barb Schroeder.

With his Floyd County job, Schroeder managed several small county-owned campgrounds.  He says the secret to having a popular campground is making sure the facilities are always clean and that everyone is friendly with the campers.

The Pulpit Rock Campground has a good reputation with campers, says Schroeder, so he's pleased to be in his new job.
