"Project Care" is a program of the First Lutheran Church of Decorah and other volunteers who want to help local youth who are not only graduating from high school but are also "aging out" of Iowa's foster care system.
The program helps high school graduates in the foster care program by providing them with a computer when they graduate and furnishing their dorm room or apartment with all of the basic essentials.
"We are in need of donations of all sorts to help uplift these students", said First Lutheran Church volunteer Jenine Jordahl.
This year the program will help six graduating high school students. The community is invited and encouraged to attend a special graduation celebration from 4:30 p.m. until 5:30 Tuesday, May 12th, in the Fellowship Hall at First Lutheran Church.
"We are touched by everyone's support, and so very grateful," says "Project Care" committee member Kirsten Heine, adding, "This does make a difference to these young people."
