This is "National Infertility Awareness Week," asimed at educating the public and creating greater awareness and understanding about infertility.

One in eight U.S. couples has trouble getting pregnant or sustaining a pregnancy.  Says Winneshiek Medical Center gynecologist Dr. Randall Bremner, "If conception is unsuccessful for at least 12 months, you may be considered a candidate for infertility testing."

Dr. Bremner diagnoses and treats a variety of conditions that can cause infertility.  He says it's impoprtant to get to know his patients so they feel comfortable talking about infertility.  Once that has happened, he can present the various options that are open to them--including treatment locally.
