Winneshiek Energy District seeks to coordinate collaborative solar array with major local users

Winneshiek Energy District director Andy Johnson says the district would like to contact Alliant Energy regarding the potential construction of a large solar field that would have joint participation of five major entities: Decorah Schools, Winneshiek Medical Center, City of Decorah, NICC, and Winneshiek County.

On Monday night the Decorah School Board heard from Andy Johnson about the proposal.

NICC has already agree to be part of the initial non-binding inquiry. The Decorah Community School Board agreed also, but noted that one of the first steps before further steps would be a clarification regarding the legal ability of the District to participate.
