The City of Decorah is reminding residents that blowing and raking yard waste into the streets prohibited.
Moving yard waste to a city street or alleyway is not only a violation of city code, it is also not environmentally friendly. Grass and yard debris can clog storm water sewers, making them more prone to flooding during major storms.
The only time of the year Decorah residents may deposit leaves upon a city street or an alley or on the curb line of any street or alley is each year between October 1st and November 15th.
The city yard waste site is now open for Decorah residents to use Wednesday afternoons and Saturday mornings.
