Thunder Rode announces plans for Decorah conference for veterans with disabilities

Plans have been announced for a Veterans and Families Appreciation Summit May 16th at the Aaron and Michelle Kruses farm in Decorah.  The Summit will provide education regarding Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI) and other veterans' issues and concerns.
 
Speakers will include Heather Homewood, who will discuss "Veteran and Dependent Benefits;" Allamakee County Veterans Affairs office staffer Amy Kauten, who will discuss "Getting in Touch with Your Inner Horse," about her personal experiences as a volunteer horse leader; Toni Mattson from the Trinity Equestrian Center in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, who has nearly seven years experience working with veterans struggling with PTSD and TBI; and Brandon Drost from Eau Claire, Wisconsin, who will discuss his life experience with PTSD and how equine assisted therapy has turned his life around.  .
 
There will also be a free lunch, chair massages, horse activities for children, face painting, miniature horses to enjoy and free daycare.
