New Minowa Players' spring show, "Leaving Iowa: A Comedy about Family Vacations," will be performed this Thursday through Sunday.
The play follows Don Browning as he leaves his hometown of Winterset on a quest across Iowa to scatter his father's ashes at his childhood home. Soon enough, Browning finds himself drifting through memories of his childhood vacations while crossing paths with numerous characters.
Chad Bird will portray the main character, Don Browning. Accompanying him will be Rick Scheffert as Dad, Kathy Schwartzhoff as Mom, and Kyna Henson as Sis -- with Crystal Harrell and Jim McIntosh playing the many characters they meet along the way.
Performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday and at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the New Minowa Players Community Theater on 906 S. Mill Street in Decorah. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children 12 and under and may be purchased at the Oneota Community Food Co-op. Remaining tickets will be sold at the theater one hour before show time.
