Luther College assistant professor of mathematics Mike Johnson is in charge of a Scrabble tournament in La Crosse on Saturday that will be the first of its kind in the country.

Johnson is the director of "New Words Nerds Across La Crosse," a tournament that gets its name from the fact that this will be the first Scrabble tournament in the nation using a somewhat controversial new Scrabble dictionary that has added 5,000 allowable words.
