New recycling bins installed in Festina

The Winneshiek County Recycling Department has upgraded the recycling collection system in Festina.

The original 1990 vintage bin has been replaced with a new double bin system. Overall capacity is many times greater and much easier to use.

The new bins were provided by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources Solid Waste Alternatives Program and the Winneshiek County Recycling Department as part of an effort to improve recycling services in rural unincorporated areas. The original bin will be refurbished and placed at Northeast Iowa Community College to improve their recycling collection capacity.
