Two NICC Calmar teachers earn national recognition

Two faculty members at NICC Calmar--John Ernst and Judy Bonnstetter-- have received National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development Excellence Awards for their service to the college and contributions to learning.

NICC Calmar humanities instructor John Ernst, a Decorah resident, has taught U.S. History, World Civilizations, Russian History and Culture, Philosophy, Ethics and Introduction to Religion at the college.  He has served on several NICC committees, including Curriculum, Quality Faculty Plan, Faculty Development, College Senate, Program Review and several search committees.
 
NICC district technology training coordinator Judy Bonnstetter, who previously served NICC as a distance learning technician and regional scheduler for the Iowa Communications Network, is a Calmar resident.  She assesses technology training needs of faculty and staff, provides institutional systems training for college employees, collaborates in the implementation of document imaging and electronic forms and explores integrative and web-based technologies for the classroom or presentations.

Ernst and Bonnstetter will receive the awards during NISOD's annual International Conference on Teaching and Leadership Excellence May 23rd through the 26th in Austin, Texas .
