Decorah Campground, Yard Waste Site to open April 1st.

Unofficially spring will start in Decorah on April 1st.

That's the day the Decorah Municipal Campground is scheduled to open for the season.  It will also be the day the city's Yard Waste Disposal Site will open for the season. 

The yard waste facility on Trout Run Road will be open Wednesdays from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. until noon.  Only grass clippings, leaves, garden waste, sticks, branches and trees will be accepted.  All branches and brush must be cut into lengths not exceeding eight feet.  Trees over six inches in diameter will not be accepted unless cut into lengths less than 20 inches and places in the firewood pile.  Prohibited items include processed lumber, rock, concrete, roots, plastic bags, cardboard boxes or any other containers.  Other items may be rejected by city workers.
