Decorah City Council member Paul Wanless resigns

There is a vacancy on the Decorah City council.

3rd Ward council person Paul Wanless announced his resignation on Monday night.  Wanless has served on the city council for 19 years, with much of that time acting as the Finance Committee chairperson.

He told his fellow city council members on Monday night that an opportunity has come up that will require him to step down from the city council immediately.  Wanless serves a district which includes the Phelps Park area and Minowa Heights.  No immediate action was taken on finding a successor.
