Decorah Fire Department called to a fire on Winneshiek Avenue

The Decorah Fire Department was called to 702 Winneshiek Avenue shortly before 11:00 Monday morning for a report of a dryer fire. 

Upon arrival, firefighters found fire in the laundry room located in the basement.  Fire had extended into the joists of the first floor.  The fire was quickly extinguished. 

Moderate fire damage was sustained in the basement and laundry room.  The entire house received smoke damage.   Investigation as to the cause of the fire is ongoing.

The Decorah Fire Department was assisted by the Decorah Police Department, WMC Ambulance and the Decorah Street Department.
