Decorah MathCounts students qualify for state tournament

Six Decorah Middle School students will be advancing to the state Mathcounts competition beginning this Friday, March 20th, at Drake University in Des Moines.

Noah Lovelace, Isaac Roberts, Sam Wilson, and Evie Holyoake's team qualified; Mara Frieden qualified as an individual; and Sophie Weiss qualified as the school alternate.

The students have been practicing solving math problems every Friday morning before school to prepare for the competitions.

Mathcounts is a national middle school competitive mathematics program that promotes mathematics achievement through a series of contests.  More information about the program can be found at  http://www.mathcounts.org.
