Decorah Police say they were called to a home on Locust Road around 5:30 Saturday evening.  The caller said a male subject was in the house, threatening people with knives and a sword.

When police officers arrived, the suspect--Charles Lightfoot--left the house in a black Chevy Blazer.  It was reported that he still had the knives with him.

Police located Lightfoot's vehicle a short time later.  It was parked.  Lightfoot left his vehicle and began searching through the back of the vehicle.  When the officer approached the vehicle, Lightfoot allegedly began verbally abusing the officer.  The officer told Lightfoot to step away from the vehicle, but LIghtfoot instead reached into the back of the vehicle.  When the officer attempted to stop Lightfoot, LIghtfoot allegedly assaulted the officer by striking him on the left side of the officer's head.

Lightfoot was jailed for Assaulting a Police Officer and for Interference with Official Acts.
