Driving a UPS van is a challenging job, with schedules to meet, traffic to encounter and packages to deliver. To do that for 25 years and not have a single traffic accident is quite an achievement.
That's why three Decorah UPS drivers are being recognized. The company has announced that Karleen Baumler, Kim Welch and Richard Luzum have been entered into the company's "Circle of Honor." The award is given to drivers who have spent at least 25 years driving a UPS van without having a traffic accident.
Overall, UPS's 102,000 drivers worldwide are among the safest on the roads, logging nearly 3 billion miles per year with less than one accident per million miles driven.
