The North Winneshiek School Board was presented with a check for $2,500 on Monday.
The money comes from a program sponsored by the Monsanto Fund, "America's Farmers Grow Communities." Monsanto selects a farmer as the winner of the $2,500 and then they selected the non-profit organization that will receive the donation.
Randy and Doris Patterson, who were selected by Monsanto, chose North Winn because they attended the school, their two daughters attended the school and one grandchild attended the school.
North Winneshiek Superintendent Tim Dugger says $2,000 of the Monsanto donation will be used to help continue the North Winn appearances of a representative of the Food & Fitness Initiative. The program stresses good food choices and the values of exercise and activity.
