Winneshiek Energy District is spearheading a localobservance of March 28th's "Earth Hour 2015."

The event, which will be repeated at locations all acrossthe world, consists of turning off all non-essential lights from 8:30 p.m.until 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 28th.

Organizer Nick Chill says "This small gesture, worldwide,can make a huge impact on energy usage, and an even bigger impact on publicawareness of climate change issues."

In conjunction with the observance, a candle-lit vigil willbe held at 8:30 p.m. March 28th in Water Street Park in downtownDecorah.

Chill has also contacted the City of Decorah about turningoff all non-essential lights on city buildings as part of the observance.
