Former president of Ireland Mary McAleese will discuss the peace process in Ireland in a lecture at Luther College March 10th.
McAleese is renowned for humanitarian efforts during her two terms as president of Ireland, which spanned 1997 through 2011.
Her lecture, "Faith, Peace, and Leadership: A Conversation with Marty McAleese, President of Ireland 1997-2011," will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 10th, in the Center for Faith and Life Main Hall on the Luther College campus.
McAleese centered her presidency on issues involving justice, equality, social inclusion, anti-sectarianism and reconciliation. Her lecture will cover everything from peacemaking to ecumenism to the rights of prisoners, women, children and the LGBT community.
A question and answer session and book signing will follow McAleese's talk. Both are open to the public with no charge for admission.
