The Flower Pot in Calmar does well in on-line contest--but doesn't win

A Calmar business has come up short in an on-line contest for a $5,000 entrepreneurial grant.

The Flower Pot did finish 6th in the "Dream Big, Grow Here" business grant contest run through the University of Northern Iowa's "My EntreNet" program.

The Flower Pot in Calmar, owned by master florist Audrey Hurd, received 1,517 votes in the contest.  However, "FarmTable Delivery," a business much like NE Iowa's "Grown Locally" cooperative, won the contest by receiving 4,725 votes
