As decorahnews.com mentioned (http://www.decorahnews.com/news-stories/2015/02/10187.html) in a story earlier this week, the Rochester Post-Bulletin fielded a reader question about a Minnesota Public Radio sponsorship message that said Luther was "two hours from the Twin Cities." The reader questioned whether that figure was accurate—and the newspaper assured the reader that it was not.
It turns out this was NOT a case of Luther College fudging the numbers. Minnesota Public Radio began the underwriting message in 2013, when it used the "two and a half hours" figure. Some time during 2014 the underwriting message got rewritten—and the "and a half" got dropped.
When the Rochester newspaper questioned the figure, MPR realized the error—and has now changed the message back to "two and a half hours."
