The Northeast Iowa RC&D Employee Giving Fund has awarded grants to three Winneshiek County projects.
In announcing grants to programs in Allamakee, Buchanan, Chickasaw, Clayton, Fayette, Howard, and Winneshiek Counties, the agency stated that it focused on helping youth explore, learn, and celebrate Northeast Iowa's ecosystems, flora, fauna, and geology.
The three local organizations receiving grants were:
--Decorah High School. Funds will be used to purchase video equipment for students to use to create a series of self-guided tour videos highlighting local significant landmarks in and around Decorah.
--Decorah Parks & Recreation Department. Funds will help purchase fishing poles for the Summer Recreation Programs, Events and Volunteer Opportunities Project.
--Winneshiek County Conservation Board. Funds will be used to purchase materials needed to create a natural playscape at Lake Meyer Park.
