Calmar business is in the running for a "Dream Big, Grow Here" grant

A Calmar business is in the running for a $5,000 entrepreneurial grant.

The Flower Pot is entered into this month's "Dream Big, Grow Here" business grant contest run through the University of Northern Iowa's "My EntreNet" program.

Businesses compete in an online contest to win a $5,000 industry specific grant, and then become eligible to further compete for a chance to win a $10,000 grand prize

The Flower Pot in Calmar, owned by master florist Audrey Hurd, is entered in the latest Dream Big contest under the retail/wholesale category.  Her business is currently 6th in total votes.  People can vote daily at http://www.dreambiggrowhere.com/vote.aspx under the retail / wholesale category until Sunday, March 1st.

Says Audrey, "It would be wonderful to receive this grant money so that I could expand my gift line for our very small community. I have several vendors that I would love to have to offer to my customers, but with being a small mom & pop store, I need to watch every dollar that comes in."
