Houston County supervisors this week may pass an outright ban on frac sand mining

While Winneshiek County officials continue to study the pros and cons of frac sand mining, working to come up with an ordinance pertaining to the practice, the neighboring county to the north, Houston County, MInnesota, is close to doing something no other county in the Midwest has done so far--ban frac sand mining.

The Minneapolis StarTribune says Houston County supervisors have taken a preliminary vote on the measure--and it passed 5-0.
