Tamie and Aimee Holzer, Cindy Simpson and Denise Duffy participated in the 2014 mentoring Bowl-A-Thon

Helping Services is looking for volunteers to help raise funds for mentoring programs by participating in March 14th's Bowl-a-Thom.

The theme for this year's bowl-a-thon is "Catch the Mentoring Wave."  Bowlers are encouraged to get into the event by dressing with a Hawaiian theme --  beach hats, shades, leis, colorful shirts, and grass skirts.  Talk to your friends to form a team of four bowlers.  The team registers by calling Kathy Schwartzhoff at Helping Services or going online to www.crowdrise.com/CatchtheWave2015.  Each bowler collects or donates $50 or more to support the mission of mentoring.  Teams can request to bowl at 10:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., or 3:00 p.m.

Mentoring programs at Helping Services strive to connect youth with caring adults in the Allamakee, Howard, and Winneshiek County.  Mentors spend 4-5 hours per month with their youth, doing things they both enjoy.  Mentors and mentees are needed to help the program grow.  There is a particular need for mentors for girls ages 5-16 in Waukon, Decorah and Cresco.
