Four's Mom and Dad

(Bob e-mails: "As we wait for this season's bald eagle eggs to be laid, can you give us any updates on the eagle chicks that have been born in previous years?")

Mr. Answer Person says: "Here's news about one of the eaglets born last year--the one who has been named "Four."  You might remember "Four" from last June, when Raptor Resource Project Director Bob Anderson captured her following a phone call from police about an eagle in the middle of Trout Run Road.  Anderson fitted her with a transmitter which has been tracking her movements.

That has allowed us to tell you that Four has headed south--not to the beaches of Florida, but southwest of Iowa City, near Sigourney.  the Raptor Resource Project says no one has spotted her yet, but area residents have reported seeing mixed-age groups of eagles, so it's very likely she is 125 miles south of Decorah--at least for now.
