Decorah marchers say "Black Lives Matter"

Walkers representing a number of Decorah churches on Sunday morning hiked from downtown Decorah to the Luther College campus as part of a campaign to show "Black Lives Matter."

The local anti-racism campaign comes in the wake of shootings of blacks in St. Louis, New York City and Cleveland.

Decorah Congregational Church pastor Rev. Laura Arnold told a group of two dozen people at her church that "I must walk."  She told the walkers "I cannot be silent" in the face against racism--whether overt or subtle.  "I can show up and I can let myself be seen," she said.

Rev. Arnold, who was one of the organizers of the march, said she was walking in support of "people who don't look vanilla like me."

The walkers attended the Gospel Worship Service at Luther's Center For Faith and Life after they arrived on the Luther campus.
