Decorah Fire Department responds to garage fire Tuesday

The Decorah Fire Department was called out around 11:15 Tuesday morning to a garage fire at the home of Richard and Stacie Chen at 1622 240th Street in Decorah. 

When firefighters arrived, they saw smoke coming from a detached garage.  Entry was made into the garage and fire was discovered near a wood burning stove.  The fire was quickly extinguished. 

The garage received heat and smoke damage throughout.  No injuries were reported.  The cause of the fire was ruled accidental. 

The Decorah Fire Department was assisted by Winneshiek County Ambulance and Winneshiek County Sheriff's Department.
