The Decorah Community School Board has authorized school administration to proceed with a proposal from local law enforcement and emergency management agencies to construct a new tower on the current School District Tower site just west of Decorah.
The proposal would be for those agencies to construct a new tower of 300 feet to replace the existing 60 foot tower - enabling 911, emergency management and law enforcement communications. The School District would have enhanced capabilities of its tower currently used for bus radios, and adding their maintenance repeater to the system. Other benefits would include increased site security, generator backup and shared costs of heating and cooling at the site.
There is essentially no additional cost to the School District for the construction and the project details will be mapped out via a 28E agreement for sharing the property.
