Organizers of the 50th anniversary of Nordic Fest are asking for public input

Posted: Tue, Jan 20, 2015 7:56 PM

Nordic Fest will observe its 50th anniversary of 2016.

Some volunteers are already at work preparing a history of Nordic Fest.  They're asking for the public's input in two areas:

Volunteers for local nonprofit organizations which have had food operations at Nordic Fest for multiple years are being asked to share their stories, including information on how successful the booth has been and what those funds have been used for.  "The non-commercial, nonprofit impact of Nordic Fest across five decades is an underappreciated, important part of the Nordic Fest legacy," said project co-chair Dawn Svenson Holland.

Past members of Nordic Dancers are being asked for help in identifying every possible dancer and musician while they were the junior group, senior group or both. "Betty Hacker kicked off the Nordic Dancers in 1967 and they've been going strong ever since. The ten year commitment of each of these students and their parents is another piece of Nordic Fest to be celebrated," said Svenson Holland.

To share your nonprofit story or make arrangements regarding a Nordic Dancer group photo, please contact Dawn Svenson Holland at dawnsh@gmail.com or (319) 431-3296. The weekly Nordic Fest 50 blog is at http://nordicfest50.blogspot.com.
