For some people, "necessity is the mother of invention."
That was the case for current Spencer High School Activities Director and former Decorah High School basketball coach Dave Brown.
Brown told the Spencer Daily Reporter that he experimented with coming up with a basketball practice jersey that could be changed so it included three separate colors.
That's how the "Triversible" was born. His design enabled Decorah High School boys basketball players to have one practice jersey that could be turned into a red, white or blue jersey.
Brown's interview can be found at http://www.spencerdailyreporter.com/story/2154836.html. You can also see a video about his jersey at http://www.triversible.com/
Since leaving Decorah four years ago, Brown has patented his invention and has hooked up with a national distributor, Game Gear. "It's pretty cool," says Brown, who adds that basketball players and others in Decorah wknew about the jerseys when he was getting started and were a big help.
