Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum will hold a "Whittling Klub for Kids" class starting Thursday and running for four consecutive Thursdays after school from 3:15 p.m. until 5:15 p.m.
Retired South Winneshiek schoolteacher and master carver Rebecca Hanna will help participants create wood carving, while learning the safe and proper use of a carving knife, gouge, and V tools.
The cost is $25 and all carving tools will be provided. There will be a minimal materials fee for wood. Kids age 10 and over are welcome, and parents and grandparents are encouraged to sign up, too.
There will also be more "Whittling Klub for Kids" sessions, each four weeks long, offered in March and November of 2015.
