Revenues increased at Winneshiek Medical Center during the hospital's 2013-2014 fiscal year. But expenses also increased--and at a faster rate than revenues increased--so hospital leaders dedicated themselves to holding the line on expenses during the 2014-2015 fiscal year.
That approach is paying off. WMC Chief Financial Office Lynn Luloff says the hospital showed a net gain of $305,162 in November. "We're doing very well," she told WMC Board of Trustees members Wednesday.
It's not just November that has been a good month financially for Winneshiek Medical Center. Since the start of the new fiscal year on July 1st, WMC has shown a net gain of over $1.3 million.
"Now we're in a good spot," said Luloff, who says the net gain represents a margin of 5.9 percent on revenues--a very good figure for a hospital.
