Will an acting Sheriff be on the job April 1st?

Winneshiek County Sheriff Leon Bohr has announced plans to retire on March 30th.  The Winneshiek County Board is considering appointing an Acting Sheriff to take over Bohr's job on April 1st.

County Board Chair John Logsdon says the county board needs to decide whether to hold a special election to fill the vacancy or whether to make an appointment.  But it's also possible that the two options aren't mutually exclusive--an appointment could be made to fill the position until a special election could be held.

Logsdon says he'd like to have someone ready to take over Bohr's job on April 1st, so he has scheduled a discussion next Monday on the timetable for appointment an Acting Sheriff who will begin work April 1st.
